Monday morning sees the flight out of here, returning who-knows-when. I’ve enjoyed spending so much time on site over the past three weeks, but know Katie and Jon will take lots of photos to keep the blog updates coming [hint hint :)].
So, a few final snaps of the week just gone.
Yesterday started with a trip to the Architect’s offices for some in-depth discussion of kitchen layouts. Meetings are always more comfortable at CDMS because we get coffee and cookies. The kids enjoyed seeing the 3D models that have been built for other projects. The offices are pretty creative, which probably prompted Ben to say “Bye bye Art Attack” as we left…

After that, it was off to a new stonemasons we found nearby. Choosing tiles online doesn’t really work, so it was good to see the actual stone up-close at Stone Republic, even if the weather didn’t play ball. We think we’ve settled on the tiles for the bathrooms, kitchen and even outside…

This morning we took another look at the house. The biggest change this week is how much the extension has progressed. The shell of half of it is now built, with the roof and insulation in-place.
And finally, some good news! The awkward job of digging the footings for the balcony found undisturbed ground at a much shallower depth than at the front of the house. In theory at least, this should satisfy Building Control and mean the foundations can be formed. Well done Jamie!
